New Forms of Employment 



With economic environment, social environment and technological environment has make ranges of different types within the employment engagement. It develops new form of employment throughout the country.  Many of this form are differentiated from traditional working methods and conditions. The form differentiates from traditional one to one relationship among employee employer relationship. It also consisted with unconventional working pattern within work place environment (Armstrong, 2009).


Globalization and effect of global changes are deriving with direct impact level in policy maker and policies development conditions. It refers to as differentiated with labor market movements, skill level of employees and social protection level.  Many of the countries are focusing through standard employee contract. (Reilly, 2003). In that managing with casual work arrangements it would bring more supportive on continence. But there are concerns are being voiced around job quality and the potential negative impact of excessive and improper use of such contracts on equality, fair competition among firms’ productivity and growth & the sustainability of social protection systems (Mello, 2006).


Followings are identified as major new form of employment which are identified around the business world; (Hollenbeck, 2016)


1.      Sharing employees is jointly hired by employers in different organization which lead to permanent fulltime employment.


2.      ICT driven work engagement would one of key exclusive working environment within the organization arrangement that may supportive with mobile technology, Internet driven work base. 


3.      With movement of engagement in business differentiation it is identified that home based working environment would be developed along with business activities. 


4.      Virtual based employee would supportive with employee to handle there day to day activities in proactive manner. 


5.      Interim management, where experts are hired temporarily to conduct a specific project or solve a specific problem, integrating external management capacities within the organization.


6.      Casual work, where an employer is not obliged to provide regular work to the employee, but has the flexibility of calling them in on demand.


7.      Employee sharing, where an individual worker is jointly hired by employers in different companies, resulting in permanent full-time employment.


8.      Portfolio work, where self-employed individuals work for a large number of clients and carry out small jobs for each of them.

Contemporary recruitment trends have been discussed and quite new approach on recruitment and screening process .its facinating od the approach and companies would find more productive on casual arrangements for employment and by other side emoloyee welfare and permanent scope will avade with this new approach been placed

  7. Considering the Sri Lankan context labor shortage is prominent in all sectors. Especially the labor intense industries such as apparel sector is badly effected by this.
